kalli and i would like to start off by thanking each of you for your loyal support of The Lair for the last 2 years. We have been in business this long because of you, the customer and we so appreciate you being with us for these 2 years.
Along with you all being the major part of our success, we also pride our longevity on being honest, hard working and creative. That being said, we do not always handle things the way customers would want, but we do always try to be fair to past, present and future customers. We try to be supportive of other creators in our collaborations, mindful of not duplicating products/ideas and giving advice and help when needed.
That being said… we are sending out this notice, asking for your help and support to preserve the livelihood for creators and creative integrity of their content in SL.
It has recently been brought to our attention that an item of ours has been duplicated. The prims are exactly the same, only the texture being different. There are less prims, ours being 40 +, theirs being only 30+, but the items looks exactly the same.

This is not a slam to the one that has done this to us. In a way, how flattering to be their creativeness, since none of their own can be thought of. That person will not have the longevity that we do, as dishonesty and lack of creativity is not long lived in SL. And as the saying goes, what comes around goes around, and this person will definitely get theirs.
But what we ARE doing is bringing to the attention of customers out there to please be mindful of what you are buying. Money is what makes SL thrive. We do hope that your hard earned money is going to people that deserve the money you are giving. It is not us to judge for you who that is, or where your money is spent, but we do hope that you will now be armed to buy smarter and help support the creative integrity of SL and its designers.
The Lair will live and thrive, even with this one item being stolen. We smile and accept this as part of a downfall of being a designer, as we were so informed in IM to the person that copied us. Our concern, though, is for that person that is just starting out, being undermined by someone that lacks in honesty and integrity.
Please help us by inspecting the items that you buy. Even free items can be copied, as we are reminded again by a popular saying “if it seems too good to be true, it usually is”. While yes, you can get the item for a lower price, do you really want to give your hard earned money to someone without integrity?
If you know of items that are copied, please report this to the original creator, if possible. You can check dates of creation on an item, to see if it was made first, by right clicking and selecting More > More > Inspect.
